These sites are only starting points. You can also go up and access the other islands or down to great detail on Kauai. Of course, if you can't set your VCR, you'll probably find this stuff bewildering since you'll have to learn about downloading, decompressing, etc.

Kauai Map Service, a USGS site with great data. Take a look at the Emerge DOQ's infrared photos. Unfortunately the outfit taking the photos went bankrupt before they'd covered the interiors of the islands, a common problem given the cloud cover. As with hiking, if you let the calender control your schedule, you will get clouds or worse most of the time.

Virtual Terrain Project, a great site for a vast amount of data on all the islands. The Grayscale photos are excellent as are the DEMs.

Raingages Galore USGS site with all the state and USGS Kauai raingages (or is it rain gages. I wish they'd make up their minds.) and more.
